Tight Security As Banks Open Today

Police from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh is taking necessary steps to assist bankers in controlling the rush from Thursday in view of exchange of the old currency notes.

TS additional DG (aw and order) Anjani Kumar said all police commissioners and SPs had been instructed to provide security banks and financial establishments. We have given instructions to all officers for taking necessary action. Besides this, mobile patrols will roam near banks and post offices," he said.

AP DGP N. Sambasiva Rao said the police in all districts would assist bankers in handling the rush and maintain queues apart from providing security.

As per the guidelines issued by the Reserve Bank of India banks will exchange R500 and Rs 1,000 notes with a cap of Rs 4,000 per day But there is no limit on making deposits in savings or other accounts.
